Unrivaled: New Women’s Basketball League Launches with Star-Studded Lineup
A groundbreaking women’s 3-on-3 basketball league, Unrivaled, is set to make its debut, featuring top WNBA talent during their offseason. Co-founded by WNBA stars Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, the league will host games in Miami, Florida, over a two-month season.
The league boasts an impressive roster of players, including Sabrina Ionescu, Brittney Griner, and Jewell Loyd. However, notable absences include A’ja Wilson and Caitlin Clark, who are not participating this season.
Unrivaled introduces a unique format, with games played on a smaller full-court. Each match consists of three seven-minute quarters, followed by a special fourth quarter that ends when a team scores 11 points more than the leading team after the third quarter. Games are scheduled one hour apart, with no overtime.
All games will be broadcast nationally on TNT and truTV. For viewers without cable packages, streaming options are available through services like Sling TV, DirecTV Stream, and Max. Sling TV Blue offers TNT and truTV for $46/month, with a discount for new users. DirecTV Stream’s MySports package provides sports channels at a reduced rate, while Max offers streaming through its B/R Sports Add-on.
The Unrivaled season runs from January 17 to March 17, 2025, with games airing on Fridays, Mondays, and Saturdays. A midseason 1-on-1 tournament adds Tuesday and Thursday games to the schedule. The semifinals and Finals are set for March 16 and 17.
For international viewers or those traveling abroad, VPN services like ExpressVPN can be used to access US streaming services, though legal considerations should be noted.
The league features six teams with six players each, coached by notable figures in basketball. Team rosters include a mix of established WNBA stars and rising talent, promising an exciting inaugural season for this innovative basketball league.
