Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer have been a comedy duo for over 30 years, having first met in 1986. Despite their long-standing partnership, Vic recently revealed that the pair “never really speak” to each other.
In an interview with The Guardian, Vic explained how he and Bob had never felt the need to talk outside of work: “We don’t hang out or anything like that. We just turn up at work when we have something on – it works very well.” He went on to explain his admiration for his partner’s comedic talent: “Bob is so brilliant at what he does – I think it would be wrong if I tried to influence him”.
The two comedians are known for their unique brand of surreal humor, which has earned them legions of fans across the UK and beyond. They have starred together in several TV shows, including Shooting Stars, Catterick, and House Of Fools as well as performing live stand-up routines throughout Britain since 1989.
Despite not speaking much outside of work hours, Vic believes this lack of communication has only strengthened their professional relationship: “It means there is no pressure between us,” he said; “we can just get on with our job without worrying about any personal stuff.” It seems clear then that despite not being close friends off-screen, these two talented performers continue to make great comedy together after all these years!
