Phillip Schofield, the veteran TV presenter and host of ITV’s This Morning, has resigned from the broadcaster after admitting to an affair with a colleague. The resignation comes after months of speculation surrounding his personal life following an investigation into rumors of a relationship in 2020.
Schofield had previously denied any involvement with another woman during this time and released a statement on Friday confirming he was leaving ITV “with immediate effect”. He also said that he was sorry for any pain caused by his actions, particularly to his wife Stephanie Lowe, and their two daughters Molly and Ruby.
The 57-year-old presenter has been dropped by talent agency YMU Group as well as being removed from all future programming at ITV including Dancing On Ice which is due to return later this year. A spokesperson for YMU said they were “saddened” by the news but respected Schofield’s decision to resign from both organizations.
In light of recent events, it appears that Phillip Schofield will no longer be appearing on our screens anytime soon however many fans have expressed their support for him online wishing him luck in whatever comes next.
