Amazon recently released CEO Andy Jassy’s annual letter to shareholders. In the letter, Jassy discussed Amazon’s accomplishments and goals for the upcoming year. He highlighted Amazon’s commitment to customer service, innovation, and sustainability as critical components of its success in 2020. Additionally, he noted that despite a challenging year due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, Amazon was able to make significant progress in areas, such as cloud computing services (AWS), digital media offerings (Prime Video), and e-commerce operations (Amazon Marketplace).
Jassy also discussed how technology has been used by Amazon during this time of crisis. He stated that “technology can be a powerful force for good when it is applied thoughtfully with consideration for all stakeholders—customers first among them.” This sentiment is reflected throughout his shareholder letter as he emphasizes the importance of using technology responsibly while continuing to prioritize customer’s needs above all else.
Finally, Jassy expressed optimism about what lies ahead: “We are optimistic about our future because we have seen firsthand how much people value convenience and selection from their online shopping experiences. We remain committed more than ever before to delivering great customer experiences through our products.” With these words in mind it appears clear that under Andy Jassys’s leadership, Amazon will continue its mission of providing excellent customer service while maintaining an eye toward technological advancement.
