Yesterday, Twitter made a controversial move to tweak its algorithm and force-feed everyone Elon Musk’s tweets. The decision was met with mixed reactions from users of the social media platform, some of whom felt that it was an invasion of their privacy while others welcomed the change as a way to stay informed about what one of the world’s most influential people had to say.
The new algorithm has been designed so that any tweet by Elon Musk is automatically pushed into every user’s For You page regardless if they follow him or not. This means more exposure for his content and potentially more engagement in terms of likes, retweets, and comments on his posts. It also allows those who don’t already follow him access to his thoughts without having to actively search for them amongst all other accounts on Twitter.
While many have expressed concern over this development due to its potential implications for freedom of speech online, there are some advantages too: it gives everyone access to news from reliable sources which would otherwise be difficult or impossible to find amidst all other content posted daily on Twitter; it ensures no one misses out important announcements made by Mr. Musk; and finally provides an opportunity for people who may not have known about him before now get acquainted with what he stands for through reading his tweets directly in their feeds instead searching elsewhere online first hand.
