Tesla Cybertruck Deliveries Halted Due to Falling Trim Piece
Tesla’s highly anticipated Cybertruck is facing a new setback as the company has implemented a “containment hold” on deliveries due to a trim piece falling off the vehicle. This latest issue adds to a growing list of challenges for the electric pickup truck, which has already experienced recalls and quality control problems since its launch.
Tesla delivery specialists have informed customers that the hold is related to a metal piece detaching from the vehicle. Specifically, the problem involves the “cantrail” trim, a large stainless steel piece that runs over the windows. Reports have emerged of this trim detaching at high speeds, raising significant safety concerns.
Customers on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum have shared incidents of the trim flying off while driving. One driver recounted their experience of the trim detaching while on the highway. Car enthusiast publication Road & Track has documented multiple cases of this issue, highlighting the widespread nature of the problem.
YouTuber Reid Tomasko emphasized the danger of the panel detaching, particularly in cold weather conditions. In a proactive measure, Tomasko removed the panel from his own Cybertruck to prevent it from potentially detaching at high speeds.
In addition to the cantrail trim issue, reports indicate that the truck’s front plate is also glued on and can be easily removed, further adding to quality concerns. Despite these problems, Tesla has not yet issued a public service bulletin addressing the situation.
The cantrail trim issue represents a significant problem that Tesla must address promptly. As customers report canceled delivery dates and additional inspections being required, the situation continues to add to the Cybertruck’s list of challenges and intensify public scrutiny of the vehicle.
This latest development underscores the ongoing difficulties Tesla faces in bringing its innovative but controversial Cybertruck to market, as the company works to resolve quality and safety issues while meeting high consumer expectations.
