In a move reminiscent of the film “The Brutalist,” French outsourcing company Teleperformance has announced a $13 million investment in Sanas AI, a startup specializing in accent neutralization technology. The partnership grants Teleperformance exclusive rights to Sanas AI’s “real-time speech understanding platform,” which includes an “accent translation” feature designed to improve communication in call centers.
Teleperformance’s deputy CEO, Thomas Mackenbrock, highlighted the potential benefits of this technology, stating, “Accent neutralization can significantly enhance communication and customer satisfaction in our call centers.” He emphasized that the system aims to create a win-win situation for both customers and call center employees.
However, the market’s initial reaction to this investment has been less than enthusiastic. Teleperformance’s stock experienced a decline following the announcement, with JPMorgan analyst Sylvia Barker suggesting that investors may be concerned about the AI spending and the concept of accent neutralization itself.
Despite these concerns, Mackenbrock remains optimistic about the role of AI in the workplace. He stressed that while AI technology continues to advance, human elements remain crucial in customer experience and branding. “AI is a tool to enhance, not replace, human capabilities in our industry,” Mackenbrock explained.
