Researchers were pleasantly surprised to find that only one New Yorker attacked their cute trash-collecting robots in Greenwich Village. The robots, which are part of a pilot project from the city’s Department of Sanitation, have been roaming the streets for two weeks now and collecting garbage.
The researchers had expected more people to be hostile towards them due to New Yorkers’ reputation for being rude but instead, they found that most people accepted them with open arms. People even went out of their way to pet the little robot’s head or take pictures with it!
It seems like these friendly reactions could be attributed partly because this is an innovative new technology and partly because these machines are so adorable looking! Whatever the reason may be, it’s clear that residents appreciate having extra help around when it comes to keeping their streets clean. It just goes to show how much progress can happen when we all work together towards a common goal – making our cities cleaner and greener places!
