Russia’s space program appears to be in a state of disarray. Roscosmos, the federal space agency responsible for Russia’s aerospace activities, is struggling with mounting debt and seized assets. In addition, its once dependable spacecraft are now riddled with leaks. This has caused some of the worst conditions ever seen by the Russian space program since it was founded in 1992 following the collapse of the Soviet Union.
The problems have been exacerbated due to an aging fleet that requires regular maintenance and upgrades but lacks adequate funding for these tasks. As a result, many launches have been delayed or canceled altogether as engineers struggle to keep up with repairs on existing vehicles while also attempting to develop new ones from scratch without any additional resources available at their disposal.
Furthermore, there is concern over Russia’s plans for future exploration beyond Earth’s orbit, which may not be feasible given current financial constraints and technical issues plaguing its current fleet of rockets and satellites alike; this could mean that any progress made thus far toward deep-space travel may become stalled indefinitely if more money isn’t allocated soon enough towards research projects related thereto.
Overall, it is clear that Roscosmos needs help if they want their ambitious goals involving interplanetary exploration to come true anytime soon – otherwise we might see them fall even further behind other countries like China, which already appear well ahead when it comes to developing technology necessary for such endeavors.
