Firefighters recently had to rescue 5 adventurous boys who got lost in Staten Island’s sewer system. The boys were reported missing after crawling into a tunnel, and audio from the 911 call captured their screams for help as firefighters frantically searched beneath several manholes.
The incident began when the group of boys decided to explore an abandoned tunnel near their homes. Unfortunately, they quickly became disoriented and found themselves unable to find their way back out again. After realizing that they were trapped, one of them managed to make a phone call for help before his battery died.
Fortunately, emergency responders arrived shortly afterward and followed the sound of screaming until they located all five children safe but scared inside the sewers below ground level. Firefighters then carefully guided each boy up through individual manhole covers while providing reassurance throughout what must have been a terrifying experience for them all! Thankfully no injuries occurred during this daring rescue mission, which was completed successfully by brave first responders in record time!
