Razer Unveils Barracuda X Chroma: RGB-Enabled Wireless Gaming Headset
Razer, the leading gaming peripherals manufacturer, has announced the launch of its latest wireless gaming headset, the Barracuda X Chroma. This new model builds upon the success of its predecessor, introducing customizable RGB lighting as its standout feature.
The Barracuda X Chroma is now available for preorder in both black and white color options, priced at $129.99. Customers can expect shipping to commence in late October or early November.
One of the headset’s key selling points is its RGB lighting system, which can be personalized using either the Razer Chroma Studio desktop application or the Razer Audio mobile app. The lighting setup includes six distinct zones, offering users a palette of 16.8 million colors and preset effects for over 300 games.
In terms of design, the Barracuda X Chroma sports a glowing Razer logo and a ring of color-changing LEDs on each earcup. The headset features memory foam cushions and swiveling earcups for enhanced comfort during extended gaming sessions. It comes equipped with 40mm drivers and a detachable HyperClear cardioid microphone, which can be removed for versatility. Users will find a mute button and volume dial conveniently integrated into the left earcup.
Weighing in at 285 grams, the Barracuda X Chroma is slightly heavier than its predecessor. However, it compensates with improved connectivity options, supporting both Bluetooth and Razer’s proprietary 2.4GHz HyperSpeed connection.
Battery life varies depending on usage. With the 2.4GHz connection and RGB lighting turned off, users can expect up to 70 hours of playtime. This drops to 35 hours with the RGB lighting activated. A quick 15-minute charge provides approximately six hours of use, and potentially longer battery life when using Bluetooth.
The Barracuda X Chroma boasts wide compatibility, supporting PCs, Macs, Nintendo Switch, Sony PlayStation, Steam Deck, and both Android and iOS devices. However, it’s worth noting that the headset does not support Xbox’s wireless protocol.
With its blend of customizable lighting, comfort-focused design, and versatile connectivity, the Razer Barracuda X Chroma aims to cater to gamers seeking both style and substance in their audio gear.
