Plugable Unveils Innovative 10-Port USB-C Charging Hub
Plugable, a leading manufacturer of computer peripherals, has announced the launch of its latest product, the PS-10CC, a multi-port USB-C hub capable of powering or charging up to 10 devices simultaneously. The company is introducing this innovative charging solution through a Kickstarter campaign, offering early backers the opportunity to purchase the device for $59, a significant discount from its expected retail price of $99.
The PS-10CC utilizes intelligent power distribution and a priority-based charging system to efficiently manage power across its 10 USB-C ports. With the ability to deliver up to 100W of power, the hub is designed to prioritize charging from left to right, redistributing power as higher-priority devices reach full charge.
While the hub boasts impressive capabilities, it’s important to note that users must supply their own power adapter, with a minimum power delivery requirement of 18W. The device cannot provide 100W to each port simultaneously, as the power input is capped at 100W total.
Plugable’s new charging hub employs real-time current sensing technology to manage power distribution effectively. This feature allows users to determine which devices need charging first, ensuring all connected devices eventually receive power.
The PS-10CC is particularly suited for charging multiple smaller devices such as phones, smartwatches, tablets, headphones, and e-readers. It offers a streamlined solution for managing overnight charging needs, making it ideal for bedside tables. However, it may not be the best choice for setups with multiple high-power devices like computers.
Delivery for the PS-10CC is anticipated as early as January 2025. Plugable has a proven track record of successfully delivering products through previous Kickstarter campaigns and has functional prototypes of the PS-10CC, instilling confidence in potential backers.
