OnePlus Unveils New Flagship and Mid-Range Smartphones in the US Market
OnePlus has officially launched two new smartphones in the United States, marking a significant expansion of its product lineup. The flagship OnePlus 13 and the mid-range OnePlus 13R are now available for purchase and preorder, respectively, offering consumers a choice between high-end features and more budget-friendly options.
The OnePlus 13, starting at $899.99, hit the market on January 7 and can be purchased through the OnePlus website and Best Buy. Its mid-range counterpart, the OnePlus 13R, priced from $599.99, opened for preorders on the same day, with full availability scheduled for January 14. Both models are expected to be available on Amazon at a later date.
The OnePlus 13 boasts impressive specifications, including a three-lens camera system featuring 50MP main, ultrawide, and 3x zoom lenses. The device’s camera capabilities are enhanced through OnePlus’s partnership with Hasselblad, promising vibrant colors and high-quality photos. However, initial testing suggests some issues with darkening details in photos, warranting further examination.
Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, the OnePlus 13 offers top-tier performance. Its 6,000mAh battery provides excellent longevity and supports 80W fast charging and wireless charging. The device also comes with a commitment to four years of Android OS updates and six years of security updates.
The OnePlus 13’s 6.8-inch display features up to 1440p resolution and a ProXDR panel with a 1-120Hz refresh rate. New features like Glove Mode and an updated Aqua Touch 2.0 enhance usability in various conditions. The phone’s design incorporates a shiny metal frame, and matte-textured glass back panel, and boasts an IP69 rating for water and heat resistance.
For those seeking a more affordable option, the OnePlus 13R offers a compelling package. While it shares the same powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and similar display size as its flagship sibling, it makes some compromises in areas like camera capabilities and wireless charging to achieve its lower price point.
Both models are available in multiple storage configurations and color options, with trade-in offers and gift cards available through OnePlus and Best Buy to sweeten the deal for potential buyers.
As OnePlus continues to expand its presence in the US smartphone market, these new offerings present strong competition in both the flagship and mid-range segments, potentially reshaping consumer choices in the coming year.
