During a recent press briefing, Sonali Yadav, product manager for gaming AI at Microsoft, demonstrated Copilot’s capabilities across different gaming scenarios. In an Overwatch 2 demonstration, the AI assistant showcased its ability to coach players on their mistakes, recommend hero picks, and explain character pairings. A Minecraft demo further illustrated Copilot’s versatility, answering crafting questions and guiding players by analyzing their screens, even offering cheat options for locating materials.
While these demonstrations highlight Copilot’s potential, Microsoft clarified that the initial launch will not include all showcased features. The company plans to begin testing early versions of Copilot with Xbox Insiders via the Xbox mobile app starting in April. This phased approach will allow Microsoft to gather user feedback and refine the assistant’s capabilities before expanding to multiple devices.
To generate excitement for the new technology, Microsoft released a marketing video for Copilot. However, the company noted that the video is largely conceptual and may not accurately reflect the initial offering. The focus remains on a gradual rollout, starting with mobile devices, to ensure a smooth introduction and adaptation to user needs.
