Microsoft Expands AI Features to More Windows 11 PCs
Microsoft is broadening the availability of its artificial intelligence features to a wider range of Windows 11 computers, including those powered by Intel and AMD chips. This expansion marks a significant step in Microsoft’s AI integration strategy for personal computing.
One of the key features in this rollout is Live Captions, which translates audio from multiple languages into real-time English subtitles. Initially tested on Intel and AMD devices in December, Live Captions is now accessible to users through the latest Windows 11 update.
The update also introduces new AI-powered tools to enhance creativity and productivity. Cocreator, a new feature in Paint, allows users to generate images based on text descriptions and existing drawings. Additionally, the Photos app has seen an expansion of its AI image editing and generation capabilities.
These features were previously exclusive to Copilot Plus PCs equipped with Qualcomm chips. Microsoft has been testing other AI tools, such as Recall, which captures and enables searching of screenshots on Copilot Plus PCs. While Recall has been tested on Intel and AMD devices, a release date for wider availability has not been announced.
Voice Access, another AI-powered feature, has received significant improvements for Qualcomm-powered Copilot Plus PCs. Users can now communicate with their PCs using more descriptive language, and the feature offers translation capabilities for 27 languages into Simplified Chinese. Microsoft plans to roll out these Voice Access enhancements to Intel and AMD devices in the future.
This expansion of AI features across different chip platforms demonstrates Microsoft’s commitment to integrating artificial intelligence more deeply into the Windows ecosystem, potentially transforming how users interact with their personal computers.
