UK Activist Group Stages Beach Protest Against Tesla and Elon Musk
In a bold move against Tesla and its CEO Elon Musk, UK activist group Led By Donkeys orchestrated a striking protest on a Welsh beach. The demonstration, which involved using a Tesla vehicle to inscribe “Don’t buy a Tesla” in large letters on the sand, marks the group’s second anti-Musk demonstration aimed at impacting the billionaire’s financial interests.
A video released by the group shows a former Tesla owner, identified as Prama, operating a harrow dragged by a Tesla to create the massive beach message. The inscription also included an outline resembling Musk’s controversial gesture at a recent Trump rally, which has sparked widespread debate.
Musk has vehemently denied accusations that the gesture was a Nazi salute, calling such claims “ridiculous” during an appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast. However, Led By Donkeys emphasized the protest’s visibility, asserting that the message could be observed from space.
This latest stunt is part of a broader campaign against Musk by Led By Donkeys, a group originally known for its anti-Brexit activism. The organization has shifted focus to target Musk for his political affiliations, with previous demonstrations including projecting videos of Musk’s contentious gesture onto Tesla’s Berlin factory.
The protests come at a challenging time for Tesla, coinciding with backlash against Musk’s cost-cutting measures at the company. Reports suggest that some Tesla owners are selling their vehicles due to Musk’s actions and political stance, while Tesla showrooms and vehicles have become targets of protests and vandalism.
The controversy appears to be taking a toll on Tesla’s financial performance. The company’s stock has experienced a significant drop, declining 37% this year alone. JPMorgan analysts have responded by reducing Tesla’s price target by 41% to $135. Consequently, Musk’s net worth has decreased by $121 billion, directly tied to the stock’s decline.
As Led By Donkeys continues its campaign, collaborating with other groups like Everyone Hates Elon, the impact on Tesla’s public image and financial standing remains to be seen. The situation underscores the growing intersection between corporate leadership, political affiliations, and public perception in today’s highly connected world.
