A man is facing up to 10 years in prison after he was arrested for opening an emergency exit door on a plane. The incident occurred shortly before the plane was due to take off from Los Angeles International Airport.
The suspect, who has not been identified, allegedly opened the emergency exit door while passengers were boarding and attempted to jump out of the aircraft onto the tarmac below. He was stopped by other passengers and crew members before he could do so but had already caused significant disruption as well as putting himself and others at risk of harm or injury.
The suspect has since been taken into custody by airport police officers who are now investigating what happened before his arrest to determine if any criminal charges should be brought against him. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years imprisonment for endangering public safety through reckless behavior on board an aircraft – a serious offense under federal law that carries heavy penalties including fines and jail time for those found guilty of such actions.
In light of this incident, it serves as a reminder that all travelers must follow safety protocols when flying – both inside and outside of planes – to ensure their safety as well as everyone else’s onboard or around them at airports across America.
