Chocolate Craze Sweeps Germany as Lindt Launches “Dubai Chocolate”
Hundreds of eager shoppers braved rainy weather in Aachen, Germany, lining up for hours to get their hands on a new chocolate bar sensation. The “Dubai chocolate,” a unique blend of chocolate, pistachio cream, and knafeh, has taken the confectionery world by storm.
Swiss chocolate giant Lindt is behind this innovative release, aiming to expand and diversify the chocolate industry. The product, originally created by FIX Dessert Chocolatier in the UAE, gained widespread popularity through social media platforms.
At the launch event, Lindt staff dressed in chef outfits greeted customers with sample squares. The chocolate bars, limited to one per person, were uniquely numbered to ensure exclusivity. Only 1,000 bars were made available in select German shops, adding to the product’s allure.
The chocolate’s popularity has been largely driven by influencers on Instagram and TikTok, creating significant hype and resulting in long queues of enthusiastic customers.
ChocoSuisse, a Swiss chocolate industry association, has expressed support for this fusion of Middle Eastern and traditional chocolate flavors. The association believes this trend could expand the chocolate market beyond Europe, particularly in Asia and the Middle East.
Despite the premium price of 14.99 euros per bar, customers appeared satisfied with their purchase. Esko Rieck, a patron, shared his excitement: “The texture is amazing, and it’s great to be part of this trend.”
Following the success in Germany, Lindt plans to launch a similar campaign in Switzerland, responding to demand from Swiss consumers. The company aims to continue exploring innovative chocolate products that appeal to diverse global markets.
As the chocolate industry evolves, this successful launch demonstrates the power of social media marketing and the growing appetite for unique, globally-inspired flavors in the confectionery world.
