Disney fans rejoice! The beloved 2003 comedy, Freaky Friday, is getting a sequel. Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are both expected to return for the follow-up film.
Lohan played Anna Coleman in the original movie, while Curtis portrayed her mother Tess Coleman. The plot of the first movie revolved around a mother and daughter magically switching bodies after an argument at their Chinese restaurant; it was based on Mary Rodgers’ 1972 novel of the same name.
The new Freaky Friday will be produced by Marc Platt Productions with Disney’s Mark Waters returning as director from his work on the 2003 version; Tom J Kline is writing this time around though no other casting details have been released yet. It’s unclear how much involvement Lohan or Curtis will have in this project but they’re certainly expected to make appearances in some capacity if not reprising their roles entirely – something that has excited many fans who grew up watching them together!
Freaky Friday remains one of Disney’s most popular films even seventeen years later so there’s sure to be plenty of anticipation surrounding its upcoming sequel when more information becomes available about it over time – stay tuned!
