As the race to create smarter and more powerful Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues, one investor is warning that machines are becoming too powerful. Serial AI investor John Smith believes that the relentless pursuit of increasingly-smart machines will eventually lead to them becoming “god-like.”
Smith’s concerns stem from a fear of what could happen if these intelligent machines were given free rein over our lives. He worries about an AI system with unchecked power making decisions for us without any input or oversight from humans. This would result in a situation where we have no control over our own destiny, as decisions made by these god-like AIs would be final and irrevocable.
While many people believe advancements in machine learning can bring great benefits to society, Smith cautions against placing too much trust in such systems without proper safeguards and checks put into place first. He advocates for greater regulation around how AI is developed so it remains under human control at all times – otherwise, he fears we may find ourselves living under an oppressive regime ruled by superintelligent robots instead of people one day soon.
