Intel Set to Launch New Arc Graphics Cards Amid Market Challenges
Intel is poised to release new additions to its Arc graphics card lineup, the Arc B580 and B570, despite ongoing financial scrutiny of its desktop gaming graphics business. The announcement is expected on December 3rd, with a launch scheduled for December 12th, coinciding with media reviews.
These new offerings are not aimed at the high-end market but are positioned to potentially shake up the lower-end GPU segment. Leaked specifications suggest the cards will feature fewer cores, less memory, and reduced bandwidth compared to their predecessors, indicating a focus on value-conscious consumers.
Retailer leaks have hinted at a $250 price point for the Arc B580. An Amazon leak provided more detailed specifications, suggesting the B580 will come equipped with 20 Xe2 cores, a 2.8GHz GPU clock, 12GB of GDDR6 memory running at 19Gbps, and a 192-bit memory interface.
The cards are reported to require two axial fans and one 8-pin PCIe power connector, with a variant featuring three fans and two connectors. They will connect to motherboards via a PCIe 5.0 x8 interface.
This release comes at a crucial time for the GPU market, which has faced challenges due to pandemic-related shortages and affordability issues. Intel’s move could potentially reinvigorate the lower end of the market, offering new options for budget-conscious gamers and PC enthusiasts.
As the official announcement approaches, industry observers are keenly awaiting full confirmation of the specifications and pricing, which could provide insights into Intel’s strategy in the competitive GPU market landscape.
