Honda has announced that its first e:Architecture-based electric vehicle (EV) will be released in North America a year earlier than originally planned. The Japanese automaker had initially set the launch date for 2026 but now plans to bring the EV to market in 2025.
The new e:Architecture platform is designed specifically for electrified vehicles and provides greater flexibility when creating EVs of various sizes and shapes. Honda says this technology allows them to create more efficient powertrains with improved performance capabilities while also reducing development costs and timeframes associated with bringing an EV model into production.
This news comes as part of Honda’s plan to reduce its environmental impact by 2050, which includes having two-thirds of all sales come from electrified models by 2030 worldwide – including hybrids, plug-in hybrids, battery electric vehicles, or fuel cell models – up from just 5 percent today. With the release of their first e: Architecture-based EV coming sooner than expected, it looks like Honda is well on track towards achieving this goal!
