Gordon Ramsay Absent for First Four Children’s Births, Wife Tana Reveals
In a recent episode of the ‘Happy Mum Happy Baby’ podcast, Tana Ramsay, wife of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, disclosed that her husband was not present for the births of their first four children. The revelation came during a candid discussion with podcast host Giovanna Fletcher, where Tana shared insights into her IVF journey and experiences raising six children.
Tana explained that for the births of their older children, her mother accompanied her in the delivery room instead of Gordon. She expressed contentment with this decision, stating, “It felt right that Gordon wasn’t there. I didn’t want him to potentially become squeamish and divert attention from me.”
However, the couple’s approach changed for their two youngest children. Gordon was present for the births of Oscar and Jesse, the latter born in 2023. Tana speculated that this shift might be related to their experience of losing their son, Rocky, in 2016.
The Ramsays, married since 1996, are parents to Megan, Holly, Jack, Tilly, Oscar, and Jesse. Their family journey has included both joys and challenges, including their experience with IVF and the tragic loss of their son Rocky.
Experts note that the decision of whether spouses are present in the delivery room varies based on personal preferences. Primary labor support can come from a female relative, friend, or doula, with the key being that the support person is prepared to advocate for the patient and offer encouragement throughout the process.
As of publication, a representative for the Ramsays has not responded to requests for comment on this personal revelation.
