Google Introduces Gaming Support to Android Auto
Google is set to revolutionize in-car entertainment with the introduction of gaming support to Android Auto. The tech giant has announced that popular titles such as “Candy Crush Soda Saga,” “Angry Birds 2,” “Farm Heroes Saga,” and “Beach Buggy Racing” will soon be playable in vehicles equipped with Android Auto.
This new feature is currently available to testers as part of the beta version of Android 14.1. Users will be able to access these games through their car’s touchscreen display, but only when the vehicle is in park. As a safety measure, the games will automatically close and become inaccessible once the car shifts out of park, ensuring that gameplay does not occur while driving.
The introduction of gaming support marks a significant technical advancement for Android Auto, as it allows fullscreen apps to run on the platform for the first time. This development brings Android Auto more in line with vehicles featuring Google’s built-in software, enhancing the overall in-car entertainment experience.
Google initially announced this gaming feature as part of its March feature drop. However, the company has not yet provided a specific timeline for when the gaming support will exit the beta phase and become widely available.
This move builds upon Google’s previous efforts to bring gaming to vehicles, which included the introduction of basic titles through its GameSnacks service in 2021. As the feature continues to develop, it promises to offer drivers and passengers a new level of entertainment during their parked moments on the road.
