At the Google I/O developer conference last week, employees reportedly played a drinking game in response to executives mentioning “AI” over and over. The game involved taking a shot of alcohol each time an executive said AI during their presentation. This behavior was seen as disrespectful by some attendees, but others saw it as humorous and lighthearted.
Google has been investing heavily in artificial intelligence (AI) technology for several years now, so it’s no surprise that its executives would be discussing this topic at length during the event. However, many people felt that they were talking about AI too much – hence why employees created the drinking game to poke fun at them for repeating themselves so often!
The incident highlights how important it is for companies like Google to stay up-to-date with new technologies while also being mindful of how they discuss them publicly. It’s understandable why some may have found the situation amusing; however, if these types of games become commonplace then there could be serious repercussions from both internal and external stakeholders alike who take offense or find such behavior unprofessional or inappropriate in any way shape, or form.
