Genesis Unveils GV60 MIV: A Revolutionary Electric Rescue Vehicle for Snowy Terrains
Genesis, Hyundai’s luxury brand, has introduced a groundbreaking concept vehicle designed to tackle snowy and rugged terrains. The GV60 MIV, or “Mountain Intervention Vehicle,” is an all-electric SUV transformed into a snowmobile-like vehicle for rescue operations.
The GV60 MIV replaces traditional wheels with snow tracks, significantly enhancing its capability in challenging weather conditions. This innovative approach to rescue vehicle design was unveiled at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, marking Genesis’ continued presence at this prestigious event.
The vehicle’s interior is equipped with well-bolstered sport seats, ensuring comfort and stability during operations. Medical supplies and advanced communication systems are integrated to prioritize safety and connectivity in remote areas. Exterior modifications include carbon fiber wheel arc extensions to protect against debris and safeguard bystanders.
A roof rack has been installed to carry emergency supplies, while a drone kit in the trunk provides additional support and reconnaissance capabilities. The GV60 MIV also replaces the traditional rearview mirror with a Garmin GPS Map 276Cx device, ensuring reliable navigation even without a data connection.
One of the most notable features of the GV60 MIV is its vehicle-to-load capability. This allows the EV battery to power rescue equipment, promoting an eco-friendly approach to emergency operations.
Performance-wise, the GV60 MIV boasts up to 429 horsepower. While the on-road version offers an EPA estimated range of up to 294 miles on a single charge, the range of this specialized rescue vehicle may vary due to its unique modifications.
This is not Genesis’ first foray into specialized vehicles for challenging environments. The company has previously presented other models at Davos, including the Genesis X and the GV70 Snow adventure car, which focuses on off-road fun.
The GV60 MIV represents a significant step forward in the development of electric vehicles for specialized purposes, combining luxury, performance, and practicality in a package designed to save lives in extreme conditions.
