Genesis Unveils Electric Rescue SUV for Snowy Terrains
Genesis, Hyundai’s luxury brand, has introduced a groundbreaking concept vehicle designed for rescue operations in mountainous and snowy environments. The Genesis GV60 MIV, an all-electric SUV transformed into a snowmobile, was recently unveiled at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
The GV60 MIV replaces traditional wheels with four snow tracks, enhancing its ability to navigate challenging winter landscapes. The vehicle is equipped with sport seats, medical supplies, and advanced communication systems, making it ideal for emergency rescue missions.
Safety and functionality are at the forefront of the design, with carbon fiber wheel arc extensions protecting against debris. A roof rack provides additional space for emergency supplies, while a drone kit in the trunk expands rescue capabilities.
Navigation in remote areas is facilitated by a Garmin GPS Map 276Cx, which replaces the standard rearview mirror. This system allows for precise location tracking without relying on data connections. The vehicle’s electric powertrain offers up to 429 horsepower, ensuring robust performance in demanding conditions.
The GV60 MIV’s vehicle-to-load capability enables rescue teams to power essential equipment using the EV battery, enhancing its versatility in emergency situations. While the on-road version of the GV60 boasts an EPA-estimated range of 294 miles on a single charge, the MIV’s range in snow conditions has not been specified.
Environmental considerations play a key role in the vehicle’s design, with its electric powertrain minimizing impact on pristine snowy landscapes during rescue operations.
This is not Genesis’ first foray into specialized vehicles for winter conditions. The company previously showcased the Genesis X and GV70 Snow adventure car at Davos. However, unlike the GV70 Snow’s focus on off-road recreation, the GV60 MIV is purpose-built for critical rescue missions.
As extreme weather events become more frequent, the Genesis GV60 MIV represents a significant step forward in combining luxury automotive engineering with practical, life-saving capabilities for challenging winter environments.
