Freddie Prinze Jr., the actor who played Fred in two live-action Scooby-Doo films, recently revealed that he has “zero interest” in doing another movie if the opportunity arose. This announcement comes as a surprise to many fans of the franchise, considering how successful and well-received both movies were.
The first film was released back in 2002 and grossed over $275 million at the box office worldwide. The second installment followed shortly after with similar success, making it one of Warner Bros’ most profitable franchises ever created. Despite this overwhelming success however, Freddie Prinze Jr is not interested in returning for a third time as Fred Jones – even though his character was an integral part of both movies’ storylines and successes overall.
It’s unclear what motivated Freddie Prinze Jr.’s decision to turn down any potential offers from Warner Bros but whatever it may be, we can only hope that they can find someone else suitable enough to take on such an iconic role – should there ever be another Scooby-Doo movie produced by them again!.
