The Los Angeles art scene is about to get a major upgrade in late 2024. A science-themed version of the Getty’s “Pacific Standard Time” series will bring exhibits on cyberpunk, Indigenous Futurism, and holograms to more than 50 L.A. museums and galleries throughout the city.
This new initiative seeks to explore the intersection between technology, culture, identity, and nature through these three distinct genres of artistry: cyberpunk being an exploration into dystopian societies; Indigenous Futurism celebrating indigenous cultures with futuristic elements; and holograms as a medium for creating immersive experiences that blur reality with fantasy.
The goal is for this project to become an annual event showcasing works from local artists alongside those from around the world who have been inspired by these themes over time – both past present and future – while also providing educational opportunities for all ages including lectures, workshops, screenings, etc. This series promises not only to be entertaining but thought-provoking as well!
