We sat down with Chris Varkpeh, CEO of Avanti and Vice President of Public Relations for IFBA (Initiative For a Better Africa) to discuss the bold lengths his companies are going to improve the world of education and athletics.
Chris, thank you so much for joining us today! Can you tell us a little bit about Avanti and IFBA?
My pleasure. Thank you for having me! At Avanti, we believe health is our biggest asset, and when you invest in your health, you invest in yourself. At IFBA, our mission is to empower African Students through education, allowing them to overcome many of the barriers set in place today. These two companies are doing very different things, but I believe my involvement in both allows me to find various synergies between them, allowing me to incorporate the benefits of one to the other.
Fascinating, so what does Avanti do specifically?
Avanti is helping teams gain a competitive edge with our sports performance package. We help athletes from all sports and ability levels to take their athleticism to the next level by enhancing speed, agility, strength, power, conditioning, and injury prevention.
Interesting, and what about IFBA?
IFBA (Initiative For A better Africa) a nonprofit organization that has built six schools in Africa to provide opportunities and education where there wasn’t before. We pay teacher wages and help those who cannot provide for themselves, and we pay for their tuitions. IFBA hopes to connect our partner schools in Africa with proper resources and actually change the narrative towards education.
Wow, that is amazing! What issues do you feel are most important regarding the mission of IFBA?
IFBA believes in the importance of advocating for girls and women in the STEM field in a place where they have fewer opportunities. IFBA also realizes the need to provide free schooling for all students because education is not a privilege; it is a right. IFBA hopes to use these motivations to develop a sustainable educational future to give all students an equal chance to succeed. IFBA members have all realized the benefits of their education. We understand that education is the foundation for achievement, and this is why we will do our best to promote it.
IFBA is building schools and paying teachers and partnering with other schools to reform how Africa sees education and gives these kids a real chance of a solid future. We want to improve student education in Africa by supplying school supplies, training and developing teachers, building modern educational infrastructures, supporting education for girls and students with disabilities, and achieving tuition-free education for all students in our partner schools.
Truly fascinating work you guys are doing, Chris? Thank you so much for joining us today! Where can our readers learn more about IFBA and Avanti?
