There has been a lot of concern lately about the potential for throat cancer caused by oral sex. However, there is now some very good news: There is a vaccine available that can help protect against this potentially deadly disease.
The HPV virus, which causes most cases of throat cancer linked to oral sex, can be prevented with the HPV vaccine Gardasil 9. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that all boys and girls aged 11 or 12 receive two doses of the vaccine at least six months apart to provide maximum protection from infection with certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV).
In addition to protecting against throat cancer caused by oral sex, Gardasil 9 also helps protect against other forms of cervical and genital cancers as well as genital warts in both men and women. It’s important to note that even if you have already had sexual contact before getting vaccinated, it may still offer some protection since not everyone who gets infected will develop symptoms or diseases related to HPV infections later on in life.
So while doctors are warning about an “epidemic” of throat cancer due to oral sex activity — there is hope! With proper vaccination using Gardasil 9, we can reduce our risk significantly when it comes to this dangerous form of cancer associated with unprotected sexual activity.
