Casio Unveils Digital Ring Watch to Mark 50 Years in Digital Timekeeping
Japanese electronics giant Casio has announced the launch of a new digital ring watch, the CRW-001-1JR, commemorating its 50th anniversary in the digital watch industry. Set to hit the Japanese market in December, the innovative timepiece will retail for approximately $128, offering consumers a unique blend of style and functionality.
The CRW-001-1JR boasts an impressive array of features packed into a case measuring less than an inch. Its retro-inspired six-segment LCD screen displays hours, minutes, seconds, date, and time across different time zones. The watch also includes a stopwatch function and is equipped with three functional buttons for additional controls.
Enhancing its usability, the ring watch incorporates a light and an alarm function that flashes the display. It is powered by a single, easily replaceable battery with an estimated two-year lifespan. The device is also waterproof, adding to its practicality for everyday wear.
Manufactured using a metal injection molding process, the CRW-001-1JR is crafted from polished stainless steel. Unlike the stretchable band design of competitor Timex’s recent wearable release, Casio’s ring watch comes in a fixed US size 10.5. To accommodate users with smaller fingers, the company provides spacers.
This latest offering from Casio follows the release of non-functional ring watches inspired by iconic Casio designs last year. The CRW-001-1JR’s debut suggests potential for future innovations in wearable technology, with speculation already arising about possible developments such as a calculator ring watch for the company’s 75th anniversary.
As Casio continues to push the boundaries of wearable technology, the CRW-001-1JR stands as a testament to the company’s enduring commitment to innovation in the digital timekeeping industry.
