Blue Valley Schools Dominate Kansas City’s Top Middle School Rankings for 2025
Niche, a leading school and neighborhood ranking service, has released its 2025 rankings for public middle schools in the Kansas City metro area. The rankings, which are crucial for parents navigating the transition from elementary to middle school, highlight the continued excellence of the Blue Valley School District.
Pleasant Ridge Middle School in Overland Park has secured the top spot as the best middle school in both the Kansas City area and the state of Kansas. This achievement underscores the Blue Valley Unified School District’s exceptional performance, with its schools occupying the top six positions in the rankings.
Following Pleasant Ridge are Lakewood, Prairie Star, Harmony, Overland Trail, and Oxford Middle Schools, all part of the Blue Valley district. Aubry Bend Middle School, also from Blue Valley, features in the top 10, further cementing the district’s dominance.
Missouri’s representation in the top tier comes from Summit Lakes Middle School in Lee’s Summit, ranking ninth overall and standing as the sole Missouri school in the top 10. Part of the Lee’s Summit R-VII School District, Summit Lakes received an A grade overall, with an impressive A+ for its teachers.
Other Missouri schools making their mark in the top 25 include Delta Woods, Brittany Hills, Bernard C. Campbell, Paul Kinder, Lakeview, and Moreland Ridge Middle Schools, showcasing the state’s strong educational offerings.
Rounding out the top 10 are Patton Junior High School in Fort Leavenworth at seventh place and Lexington Trails Middle School in De Soto at eighth.
