Billie Lourd, daughter of the late Carrie Fisher and granddaughter of Debbie Reynolds, recently revealed why her mother’s siblings were not invited to the upcoming Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. On May 4th, ‘Star Wars legend Carrie Fisher will be honored with a star on the iconic sidewalk.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Billie explained that due to limited space at the event, only family members closest to Carrie could attend. She said, “It was very hard for me because I wanted them there so badly but it was just too much.” Despite this difficult decision being made by Billie and her father Bryan Lourd out of respect for their privacy as a family unit during such an emotional time in their lives.
The ceremony is expected to be attended by other celebrities, including Mark Hamill who played Luke Skywalker alongside Fisher’s Princess Leia in ‘Star Wars films, and Harrison Ford who portrayed Han Solo opposite Leia in 1977’s original movie ‘A New Hope.’ In addition, many fans are also planning on attending this special occasion which marks 40 years since Star Wars first hit screens worldwide back in 1977.
