Alexandre, thank you for joining us. Can you tell us a little bit about ACAFilms?
My pleasure! ACAFilms started as a small indie film production company and still is in many aspects. We have grown and dived into media, advertisement, and most predominant consultancy for individuals, artists, companies, and groups. Yet, we still love to make indie cinema, and it´s a passion that we always show to some of our clients.
How exciting, what inspired you to start ACAFilms?
I always dreamed of working within the entertainment industry, and I wanted to produce my films, be active in other people’s projects, and more. In the beginning, it wasn’t easy, and I felt some rejection, but life is fascinating. After venturing into low-budget films, I almost forgot I had a friend who did a technology patent with me, he´s now based in Israel, and he called me to talk about its final steps on approval, so I believe that things they find their way. I always loved Smallville, and to know that I´m in the cast with a leading character on a film with Eric Roberts and John Schneider in the cast is unbelievable.
We all face our own journeys in life, and I am glad you found your calling! So, who has been your greatest source of inspiration?
There are many people in many aspects, but I see today my sister, father, and mother as people I admire immensely. Their work-driven attitude is something I try every day to keep up.
It is always great to have a strong family support network! Which project would you say you are most proud of?
All of them, for real, every project, from tiny indie films, consultation for ONG´s to press coordination for the Rwanda Film Festival and Kwetu Film Institute supported by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, PBS, HBO, Sundance Film Festival, Tribeca Film Institute, and the embassies of Germany, China, and the United States of America. Even if I couldn´t stay that long, having the chance to work for Eric Kabera was a fantastic opportunity that I take by heart every day.
It must have been a truly exciting experience! What advice would you give to those starting in the industry?
We need to follow our dreams and understand that forging and changing them to succeed in our personal and financial life is not a shame but a valuable asset.
Alexandre, thank you so much for your time. We are certainly looking forward to your future projects! Where can readers learn more?
