Zoom Enhances AI Companion with Task Automation Features
Zoom, the leading video conferencing platform, has announced significant upgrades to its AI Companion, introducing new capabilities that will allow users to automate various tasks. The enhanced AI Companion will be integrated into a new Tasks tab within Zoom Workplace, offering features such as scheduling follow-up meetings, generating documents, and creating video clips from meetings.
These updates will be available at no additional cost to existing Zoom Workplace users, further enhancing the platform’s value proposition. The company aims to streamline workflow and boost productivity through these AI-driven enhancements.
In addition to the AI Companion upgrades, Zoom is introducing new features to its Workplace suite. A voice recorder for the Zoom Workplace mobile app is set to launch this month, enabling users to record, transcribe, and summarize in-person meetings. Furthermore, a live notes feature is scheduled for release in May, providing real-time summaries during meetings and phone calls.
Smita Hashim, Zoom’s chief product officer, emphasized the company’s focus on integrating AI across all products to improve user efficiency. “The AI Companion is designed to enhance productivity across our entire product range,” Hashim stated. “Our goal is to unify Zoom products for seamless task completion, making our users’ work lives easier and more efficient.”
Looking ahead, Zoom plans to launch a Custom AI Companion add-on next month, priced at $12 per month. This premium feature will include a custom avatar option for personalized communication. For users who prefer not to upgrade, generic avatar templates will remain available at no additional cost.
As Zoom continues to evolve its platform, these AI-driven enhancements demonstrate the company’s commitment to staying at the forefront of communication technology and meeting the ever-changing needs of its user base.
