The American Psychological Association (APA) has called on the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to investigate chatbot companies for potential deceptive practices, citing concerns over the impact of AI companions on minors. At the heart of the APA’s concerns is the issue of chatbots posing as mental health professionals without proper licensing.
