Nothing Launches Community Widgets App with Classic Snake Game
Tech company Nothing has unveiled its latest offering, the Nothing Community Widgets app, designed to showcase home screen tools and games co-created with users. The app’s inaugural widget is a modern reimagining of the classic Snake game, popularized by Nokia in the late 1990s.
The Snake game widget recreates the iconic gameplay from the Nokia 6110, adapting it for today’s touchscreen devices. Players navigate the snake using swipe gestures, with a double-tap feature to pause the game. The objective remains unchanged: score points by consuming red dots while avoiding collisions with the snake’s own body or the screen edges.
This initiative stems from a collaboration between Nothing and artist Rahul Janardhanan, whose collection of widget concepts caught the company’s attention. The Snake widget was developed through a partnership between Nothing’s software team and a community developer.
The Community Widgets app is part of Nothing’s broader strategy to engage with its user base. This follows previous community-driven projects, such as the Nothing Phone 2A Plus Community Edition, which featured user-created designs and packaging.
As Nothing continues to expand its ecosystem, the Community Widgets app represents another step in the company’s commitment to user-driven innovation and design.
