Blue Valley School District Dominates Kansas City’s Top Middle School Rankings
Niche, a leading platform for education rankings and reviews, has released its 2025 school rankings for the Kansas City metro area, highlighting the importance of selecting the right middle school for a child’s education. The rankings, based on data aggregation from various sources and student reviews, offer valuable insights for parents and educators alike.
Pleasant Ridge Middle School in Overland Park has claimed the top spot as the best middle school in Kansas City. Part of the Blue Valley Unified School District, Pleasant Ridge received an A+ rating for both academics and teachers, also securing its position as the top middle school in Kansas.
The Blue Valley School District’s dominance is evident, with six of its schools occupying the top six positions in the rankings. Following Pleasant Ridge are Lakewood, Prairie Star, Harmony, Overland Trail, and Oxford Middle Schools, all located in Overland Park or Leawood. Aubry Bend Middle School, also part of the Blue Valley district, rounds out the top 10 at number 10.
Breaking the Blue Valley streak, Summit Lakes Middle School in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, secured the 9th spot. Part of Lee’s Summit R-VII School District, Summit Lakes received an A grade overall and an A+ for teachers, earning the title of best middle school in Jackson County.
Other top-performing schools outside the Blue Valley district include Patton Junior High School in Fort Leavenworth at number 7 and Lexington Trails Middle School in De Soto at number 8.
Missouri schools made a strong showing in the top 25, with several institutions from Blue Springs R-IV School District and Lee’s Summit R-VII School District featured. Notable mentions include Delta Woods Middle School (11th), Brittany Hills Middle School (18th), and Bernard C. Campbell Middle School (20th).
