British Designer Kim Jones Steps Down from Fendi
Renowned British designer Kim Jones is set to depart from his role as artistic director of womenswear and couture at Fendi after a four-year tenure. Jones, who succeeded the legendary Karl Lagerfeld in September 2020, has been overseeing Fendi’s haute couture, ready-to-wear, and fur collections.
During his time at Fendi, Jones has made significant contributions to the brand’s creative legacy. He successfully integrated modern and cross-cultural aesthetics with Fendi’s historical heritage, reinventing ready-to-wear and couture collections with an inclusive and innovative approach. Under his leadership, Fendi’s Italian codes were constantly renewed, keeping the brand at the forefront of fashion.
Bernard Arnault, Chairman and CEO of LVMH, praised Jones for his unique and multicultural vision, recognizing him as a highly talented designer who enhanced Fendi’s creative direction.
As Jones steps down from his position at Fendi, he will now focus on his role as artistic director at Dior Men’s. The luxury fashion house has not yet announced Jones’ successor, but a statement regarding a new creative organization for the brand is expected shortly.
Fendi, which became part of the LVMH group in 1999 and fully owned by the conglomerate in 2001, holds a significant position within the luxury goods company. It currently stands as LVMH’s fourth largest fashion brand, following industry giants Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Celine.
As the fashion world awaits news of Fendi’s next creative direction, Jones’ departure marks the end of an era characterized by innovative designs and a fresh perspective on the brand’s rich heritage.
