Goa Embraces Innovation: National Startup Day Sparks Entrepreneurial Fire

The National Startup Day on 16th January 2024 was an event worth celebrating, and the Startup and IT Promotion Cell, Department of IT, Electronics, and Communications in Goa did just that, by hosting a day-long program at Fortune Miramar. The significance of this day lies in its connection to the foundation day of Startup India, which was declared as National Startup Day in 2022 by the Prime Minister. This move emphasized the government’s acknowledgment of the pivotal role startups play in nation-building, economic progress, and self-reliance.

The National Startup Day is not just a symbolic date on the calendar; it underscores the government’s strong commitment to recognizing and supporting startups. It aligns with the broader vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, articulated by the Prime Minister, aimed at propelling India towards becoming a developed nation by 2047. The felicitation of startups, graced by the Chief Guest, Shri, was a testament to the government’s dedication to nurturing and promoting the startup ecosystem.

One of the highlights of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of IT and HDFC, where the bank pledged INR 99 lakhs to support startups contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals. Additionally, the release of the comprehensive Goa Startup Digest 2023, showcasing Central Government schemes, prominent startups in Goa, and initiatives led by the Startup & IT Promotion Cell, further underscored the event’s significance.

The panel discussion, a precursor to the felicitation program, brought together a diverse mix of stakeholders, including investors, industry associations, established startups, and academia.
