Dillon Reeves, a 7th grader from Ohio, is being praised for his quick thinking and bravery after taking control of the school bus when the driver passed out. According to reports, Dillon was the only passenger not distracted by their phone while his classmates were on theirs.
When Dillon noticed that something was wrong with the bus driver he immediately took action. He calmly got up from his seat and made sure everyone else stayed seated before alerting an adult at a nearby gas station who called 911.
The paramedics arrived shortly after and treated the driver who regained consciousness soon afterwards. The superintendent of schools released a statement praising Dillon’s actions as “heroic” saying that without him things could have ended much worse than they did in this situation due to how quickly he reacted under pressure.
Dillon has since been recognized by local law enforcement for his bravery with an award ceremony held at school where he received gifts from members of both local police departments and fire departments alike thanking him for saving lives that day on board the bus.
