Exercising for just 11 minutes a day could reduce your risk of early death, according to new research. The study suggests that even short daily walks or bike rides can have major health benefits and provide an alternative to the typically recommended 30-minute exercise routine.
The findings suggest that exercising for as little as 11 minutes per day is associated with a 31% lower risk of premature mortality compared with not doing any physical activity at all. While this doesn’t mean you should stop exercising more than 11 minutes per day, it does offer hope to those who struggle to find time in their busy schedules for regular exercise sessions.
Lead researcher Dr. Ulf Ekelund said: “Our message is really simple – some physical activity is better than none.” He added that the most important thing was “just move”. However, he also noted that while there may be significant health benefits from shorter periods of exercise each day, people should still aim for 150 minutes per week if possible.
Overall, these findings demonstrate how even small amounts of daily physical activity can add up over time and help improve our overall health and well-being – no matter how busy we are!
