Entrepreneur Adenah Bayoh continues to build her business empire, with four IHOP locations and the expansion of her soul-food restaurant Cornbread. Born in Sierra Leone, she moved to Newark at age 8 and was raised by a single mother who worked hard to provide for their family. She started working as a dishwasher at 14 years old before becoming an entrepreneur.
Bayoh opened her first IHOP location in 2010, followed by three more throughout New Jersey over the next decade. Her success led to the opening of Cornbread in 2019 which has become popular among locals for its delicious Southern cuisines, such as fried chicken & waffles and macaroni & cheese dishes made from scratch daily using fresh ingredients sourced locally when possible.
In addition to running these restaurants, Bayoh also founded The Adenah Foundation, which provides assistance programs that support local youth development initiatives, such as scholarships for college tuition fees or vocational training opportunities, allowing them access to resources they would not otherwise have access to due to poverty or other circumstances beyond their control. This is just one example of how she gives back while continuing to build her business empire across New Jersey and beyond!
